Feeling Fluey?Seriously?
The symptoms are the same and so is the remedy: sex. Seriously! It’s been scientifically proven. A number of American studies show that it is the best cure.
Scientists are adamant: orgasms stimulate your immunoglobulin A – code name IgA – production. These super powerful antibodies boost your immune system to beat the pants off your respiratory tract squatters. Put simply: Having more sex increases immunity from colds and flu.
These wicked viruses have been colonizing humans for the last 8 thousand years. Hippocrates was the first to describe the symptoms of what he called “fever of Perinthus”. The name "influenza" originated in the 15th century in Italy, from an epidemic attributed to the "influence of the stars". In the 18th century, English speakers called it by its French name: grippe – from gripper: to grasp or to hook. In other words, you don’t catch the flu, it’s the flu that hooks you.
So, to avoid falling in its grasp, prepare a prevention strategy, but with a backup plan, just in case.
Better be safe than sorry, so limit interactions with co-workers and neighbours, no kissing, hugging or shaking hands. And wash your hands often.
Grab some zinc. Mild zinc deficiencies are common with at-risk populations, said American scientists. This wonderful trace element – mini in size but mighty in efficiency – induces a process of programmed death in cells infected and stops viral propagation. Take it with copper for better absorption.
Pamper you friendly gut bacteria by eating raw sauerkraut or other fermented food – miso, tempeh, plain yogurt – or probiotics.
Don’t forget topical prevention: rub 2 drops Ravinstara (Cinnamomum camphora cineoliferum) and 2 drops Eucalyptus radiata (Eucalyptus officinalis) essential oil on your wrists 3 times a day.
If the flu got you: Carry on taking zinc and copper minerals 3 times a day.
To nip the flu in the bud, start a good sweat with raspberry leaf tea. Throw 50gr fresh leaves or 25gr dry leaves in a litre of water. Steep covered for 15 minutes and sip all day long. Run a very hot bath, add 2 glasses cider vinegar, dive in it and soak for 10 minutes before disappearing to bed.
Research shows that Bacillus subtilis, probiotic by trade, is a lethal weapon against our vicious seasonal virus. So why not give it a try?
For good measure, add a time-tested remedy: Put 2 beautiful raw red beetroots in your extractor or in your blender with a bit of water, mix with lemon juice and drink 1 glass of this vitamin power house twice a day.
Mix 3 drops of Ravinstara (Cinnamomum camphora cineoliferum) essential oil and 3 drops of Eucalyptus radiata (eucalyptus officinalis) and rub on your chest and the sole of your feet 3 times a day.
